Lost and Found

I was lucky enough to spend the latest weekend at Cervantes, a small fishing community about two hours North of Perth.  Cervantes isn’t as well known as Lancelin or Margaret River, but has a charm all of its own.  The biggest reason visitors head there is to see the Pinnacles, a petrified forest at the nearby Nambung National Park.  Anyone familiar with Billy Connolly, the Scottish comedian, and his tour of Australia will no doubt be familiar with these standing stones and his naked dance around them.

I went to the Pinnacles for a slightly different reason, although I did pitch the idea of the dance I was knocked back by my better half.  The West Australian Opera performed in the desert, which was an amazing experience.  The venue was suitably spooky.

The evening started with a welcome to country, then a top of the pops style event followed with the best known hits of the Opera performed over two acts.  It was a pretty special night out in an unusual location.  The next day after another breakfast feast whilst packing up I noticed that I didn’t have my wallet.  The last place I remembered seeing it was in the truck whilst paying for the entry to the National Park.  Cue panic.

Whilst I searched the truck, pulled out all the gear from the night before and went through it, the better half called the National Park and asked if anyone had handed in a wallet, not a sausage.  On the drive down to the park a message was put on Facebook, then the park was searched, still nothing.  Back on the road it was a couple of hours of radio silence as I had no network coverage.  Once back in range my phone bleeped, the wallet had been picked up by the team at the event and I could get it on the Monday.  Happy Days!
